What would Martha do next?

As I sit down to write this, I am not in a happy mood.I know I was not very active in the last weeks but lately I just feel so down, somehow nothing can cheer me up.I have to admit that I never was the kind of write-too- much-about-myself-blogger but somehow I feel to share this with someone, everyone. It is not actually a kind of sad state but an exhausted state I am in.I had been working a lot lately especially on my goodies.I still feet that sitting and crafting relaxes me a lot but I feel like I have overdone it lately and might need a break from it. Makes me feel both scared and resentful, although I’m not sure of whom. This does not mean that I will stop (I would not be able to do that) I just need to find a moderate balance between my everyday life and my crafts. I would be the happiest person if  I could make a living out of my crafts but that is not possible for now. This might be something I don't even dare to dream of somehow that feels even worse than feeling bad and being exhausted generally. Why don't I dare to dream anymore? I couldn't help but wonder if my past life experiences made me develop a too down to earth attitude? I just cannot deny I know I did  but guess what sometimes we’re running, trying to not look too closely at something we fear might be true about ourselves, aren't we? The most important now is to take a step back and acknowledge and observe. Why? To make sure I am curing the right problems. This gives me a nice distance to look at things from a different angle, which is helpful.

I also drew up some helpful tips for myself and you  for personal growth and moderateness ( in case you would be in the same situation and happen to read this).

 Count your blessings
Some weeks ago I read in an article that successful people do savoring. It means that you can be thankful even for the small things in life and being able to remember and relive memories.I have heard this before so many times but never thought about how to put it in action. Take time to look back but also forward. Taking the time to look back  helps to see that you are blessed in many ways. It builds up a kind of gratitude and appreciation towards yourself. All you have achieved can be realized in a more relaxed positive way.Visit all the past events good and bad on your inner TV taking enough time to savor. But never forget to look forward in the same time to make sure you are where things happen.

 Be there and slow down
Stop multitasking and focus on one thing at a time. Slow down to take time in your tasks. Doing less isn't bad. For a lot of time I was forcing myself into situations to be better and productive and do more and more. I have to say that these methods do not work!!! Doing less with my time has left me more satisfied at the end of my day.  I might have done less but what i have done was perfect. It also helped me improve my attitude in really difficult and stressful situations especially at work.

Growth and focus

You can't grow without pushing your limits. What does this mean? How can I achieve this without overdoing, over-exhausting myself? These were the first things I have asked myself at this point but i just had to face it this was the wrong approach. It is about deepening knowledge and reactions to situations.Even if it is hard with each challenge comes new growth. Engage in rewarding efforts. In order to develop in this way  it is inevitable to learn to see your mistakes not as personal flaws, but as the source of your most valuable life lessons. For me this is always the hardest part but you have to see these missteps as a part of a process. The most important is to stay focused on where you're headed.Find your direction in life by looking where you want to go, not where you don't.

Appreciate others
The best way to get over a bad phase is to meet others. This might sound harsh but you have to give a chance to life to slap you in the face with an other person. No not literally, what I mean is when you are getting to know someone else better you always realize that the problem you have is nothing compared to that someone's. For me that is the time when I realize that I have to try to do better. This gives you a lot of energy which you can waste on the ones you love believe me more will be coming back to you. By sharing what you have and know you will realize what you are ready to learn.

Start doing
Make this the day you stop dreaming and start doing. Take your time to realize what your real contribution is to life. Making dreams come true is not easy it is hard work and full of obstacles sometimes They say that it takes some time to get a chance from life.I know this might sound harsh but I don't believe in this type of faith. it only depends on you to be there when a chance happens. All I can say if you want to be there for sure you need to start things yourself. Make things happen!!!! Even if it is the smallest thing  it might make a big contribution in the whole process of getting there.

These are the thoughts I wanted to share for today. I will let you know how this self medication is working out for me and also look forward hearing your thoughts.

White Angels

Angels are all around us, all the time, in the very air we breathe.

What is that thing that makes me listen to Christmas songs in the middle of the summer?Or is that just me?

Yooooooohoooo

It's been such a busy  bee this week  as I work on the same and big projects.Although I am advancing in the sewing quite slowly all is getting to take shape and looks fantastic and I am so pleased with how it's all coming together.I was a bit sad over the week as I am really tired after work and falling into bed like a lifeless log. This makes the procedure extremely slow, but I am not down about that any more I think I should let it breath a bit more.....

I am delighted with how my workstation is looking .I let it evolve in time I think that is the best you can do with all kinds of spaces. There are a lot of things that I still need to get for it. I am badly in need of a notice board but will do that next week finally. I will have to buy some storage boxes too. I could have done it before but I was waiting for the right selection. Unfortunately I will have to give up on that as I am getting swamped with all the bits and bobs I have.Still I don't feel like buying anything but go for glass containers which are easy to decorate. It is still in the making but here are some delight of the workstation.

Last weekend myself and hubby visited my Gran /God bless her!/. She was completely adorable as always and made us tonnes of food and cakes. She has been collecting all kinds of buttons for me now for 3 years. She was saving them all up for our return from Ireland.Luckily  I have them all now and adorning them.I cannot wait to use them for all kind of projects. There really are a lot and I only sampled some for the photos. They are so inspiring, I have zillions of ideas what to use them for. I will definitely make a nice button heart I was wanting so much for so long.

Back to work now wishing you all a lovely Friday night.

Au Revoir!

My Projects Lately- Quilting

I know I have been off for some time lately but it I am getting busy with projects I have started much earlier.  I am busy making quilts for my nieces. I kind of going quite slow as they are my first ones. I took up a challenge with sewing two "78,7x"59,1 quilts but I am loving it. I am also adding some embroidery to it and this is the part I enjoy mostly.I cozy up under it every night I am sewing. First i found it really hard as sewing 175 pieces together seemed kind of a big bite but by now the whole project grew on me and sometimes I actually feel like I don't want to give the quilt away, but I know I will do that in the end anyway.
One of the girls is a bit older and she is really into horses, blues, and gingham. The other loves flowers, pale rose and lilac.

I used all kind of fabrics which gives it a vintage touch.I have recycled some old shirts and dresses into it too. I always feel so good when giving something a new purpose especially if it is something that everyone has given up on. I also love to buy fabrics in the charity shops though those have to be treated before using.By now I got to the point with all the sewing where the next saying is true The only place where housework comes before needlework is in the dictionary.Sewing fills all part of my days when not at work, not to mention the living room, bedroom, and closets (hopefully really soon).
When creating I am  inspired by my own feelings of childhood. All the fragrances and heat of old summers,  simple play in the shady garden. Simpleness, the pleasures and joys of rural life as I know it. Going back now it is much different in looks but still has the same feel to it.
People tell me that the countryside must always be stupid and backward, and I get angry, as if it were said that only townspeople had immortal souls, and that it was only in the city that the flame of divinity breathed into the first men had an unobscured glow. ~George William Russell
My other source of inspiration lately is the  the walks at lunch time in Dublin. I loved all Dublin 4.I had different routes of each day and discovered something new and inspiring every day. Houses, gardens,  Herbert park are my favorite that area is full of spirit.Lucky I have photographic memory and saved it all. Now I am seeing it all on my inner TV.

May your bobbin always be full!

The Princess and the Pea

This is a little project I have finished in the last days. I was so happy that I got to use  the little crowns I bought from the hobby shop. They are so cute and weren't really expensive. I mainly used Tilda fabrics and some I recycled form  an old petticoat. The small flower is something I made from polymer clay. The pattern I have drawn of a picture I have seen online. I will share it with you shortly as a tutorial.

The Princess and the Pea

by

Hans Christian Andersen

(1835)

ONCE upon a time there was a prince who wanted to marry a princess; but she would have to be a real princess. He travelled all over the world to find one, but nowhere could he get what he wanted. There were princesses enough, but it was difficult to find out whether they were real ones. There was always something about them that was not as it should be. So he came home again and was sad, for he would have liked very much to have a real princess.
One evening a terrible storm came on; there was thunder and lightning, and the rain poured down in torrents. Suddenly a knocking was heard at the city gate, and the old king went to open it.
It was a princess standing out there in front of the gate. But, good gracious! what a sight the rain and the wind had made her look. The water ran down from her hair and clothes; it ran down into the toes of her shoes and out again at the heels. And yet she said that she was a real princess.
“Well, we’ll soon find that out,” thought the old queen. But she said nothing, went into the bed-room, took all the bedding off the bedstead, and laid a pea on the bottom; then she took twenty mattresses and laid them on the pea, and then twenty eider-down beds on top of the mattresses.
On this the princess had to lie all night. In the morning she was asked how she had slept.
“Oh, very badly!” said she. “I have scarcely closed my eyes all night. Heaven only knows what was in the bed, but I was lying on something hard, so that I am black and blue all over my body. It’s horrible!”
Now they knew that she was a real princess because she had felt the pea right through the twenty mattresses and the twenty eider-down beds.
Nobody but a real princess could be as sensitive as that.
So the prince took her for his wife, for now he knew that he had a real princess; and the pea was put in the museum, where it may still be seen, if no one has stolen it.
There, that is a true story.

Spring at Last

After the weeks of hassle with my laptop, since having access to the wide world once again I've been meaning to catch up on blogging, but found so much else to be doing... with spring here finally! We had a nice trip down to my mom's too, where all the garden is in bloom.Such a lovely sight and the fragrance is unbelievable. I took some flowers with me so I can enjoy them in the flat for some days I cannot keep my nose off them.Sniffing all the time.
I bought some lovely fabrics over the weekend and cannot wait to get sewing, I will still have to finish our patchwork bed cozy (I hope it will be really soon).
I will also have to get started on my easter projects. I got some really good ideas from my mom and out of a magazine. We will have blue eggs and decorations this year. I will share that in the next post.

Snapshot of My Life Now

Sometimes I wonder about my life. I lead a small life - well, valuable, but small - and sometimes I wonder, do I do it because I like it, or because I haven't been brave? So much of what I see reminds me of something I read in a book, when shouldn't it be the other way around? I don't really want an answer. I just want to send this cosmic question out into the void. So good night, dear void.

I ♥ this house take two

As I have written about it before we started looking at plans for our own home. I think the next house is one to die for. I love everything about it. I love the mix of the old and new and hope we will be able to achieve the same look in our own house.

We already have some fears as contemporary houses are very rare in Hungary, and I learned that it is forbidden to have flat roofs at parts of the country. This might set us back in some ways. Moreover we are thinking of building a timber frame passive house, this technique is completely new and again it is unusual.

I was also wondering about becoming good at house DIY. I mean if that ever will happen to us.We will need that to make our place look like a million dollars.I know for some jobs we will have to hire crafts men, but knowing myself I would want to make some things on my own or on our own. The other day our friends visited us and explained how they got into business. They bought a 2 bedroom flat some 3 years ago and have been renovating it since then on the weekends. They knocked down walls laid tiles and all the rest.I found all the stories real fun, but the technical terms they used were completely unfamiliar.I guess in some months time we will be as technical as they are now.

I feel really excited about the whole house idea and looking at interior design magazines and sites, fascinating ideas and designers.I will give an update how we stand every time I find some thing I promise.

So here is my/our second find.{Credit}
